Black Ruby

How beautiful are these pieces designed by Dutch designer Debbie Wijskamp. Believe it or not, they are all made of recycled materials; some of them recycled paper and the black bowls made of recycled tires. Some people might think working with recycled materials could limit their usual design process but as Debbie has proved it is possible to develop new techniques or even new design processes when it comes to such materials. You can read about her techniques in her website.

Ladies’ Second Best Friend

There is no doubt that “Digital Fabrication” is THE FUTURE! As this technology is evolving, very soon we would all be able to 3d print any object we design. I love this technology and its power to totally change our future; I would say the same way as electricity changed our life! being a girl, high heels are my obssession and I was thrilled to see two concepts of my interest (digital fabrication and high heels) getting mixed. Designed by Dutch fashion designer Marieka Ratsma and American architect Kostika Spaho, this heavenly beautiful piece is inspired by bird’s skull. The design is in a way to provide efficient light weight structure and minimize material use. I am totally in love  and I can not wait to wear them ONE DAY!!!

Public Art…

I love the work of SPENCER TUNICK, an american artist whose work involves nudity of groups of people in public places. Due to nature of his work which pushes the social, political and legal issues, he is not allowed to work in USA. However, that has not stopped him and he has done shoots of naked people all around the world. Even though, his medium of art (naked body) sounds daring and to some extent disturbing, his attempt in adding layers of texture, color and contextualizing the image in space has totally changed the normal perspective on “nude bodies in public”.  I enjoyed his work and I definitely think it is very creative and different, causing us to have a new vision of nudism.

YarnBombing or Knit Graffiti

I have always been fan of street art; it just creates a very special dimension to the Urban environments. “YarnBombing” or “Knit Graffiti” is a new street art movement  which started in Texas in 2005. The aim is to cover different objects in the streets in knitted material. I love the soft, warm and colorful look that this type of graffiti adds to the urban spaces. It is filled with energy and life; something very much needed in the modern cities.  Feel free to read more about it here.
